Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
A Message from CJ
Saying goodbye to Mum has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. The world feels quieter without her, but I don’t want that quiet to become sadness. I want people to remember her as she truly was — strong, kind, compassionate, and full of fun.
She felt most herself on her motorbike, out camping, surrounded by family, or immersed in the work she loved. Those were her places of freedom, joy, and connection. It’s no surprise that her final wish was for her ashes to be scattered in space — one last adventure, shared with all of you.
To me, she wasn’t just my mum — she was my best friend. We were extremely close, and she shaped my life with her honesty, her integrity, and her belief in helping others, especially those who couldn’t always help themselves. She was a mentor, a guide, and a mum to many, not just me.
She showed love in the most genuine ways: cooking for the people she cared about, helping me tame my oversized, overgrown garden, and giving without ever expecting anything in return. She had a gift for bringing life into any space — and into the people around her. And she was surrounded by so many who adored her: family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Her humour stayed with her right to the end. Mum purposely chose the longest version of Stairway to Heaven for her service, just so we’d all have to sit there and wait it out — classic her. She stayed incredibly positive even in the hardest times. I’m still humbled by her strength, and proud to have had her as my mum.
Her presence made people feel safe and supported. She lifted others up, reminded them of their strength, and she did it all with warmth, fun, and a spirit that made even heavy moments feel lighter.
The loss is severe, and it always will be. But I’m grateful — grateful for the lessons she taught me, the memories she gave me, and the love she offered so freely. Those are the things that live on, shaping me and so many others.
As you look through her photos and watch her final journey into space, I hope you feel the same warmth, strength, and joy she brought into our lives.
Live free.
Enjoy the little moments.
Build memories with the people you love.
Be kind.
Remember her at her best. Remember the way she made you smile. Remember how deeply she cared.
This is how I carry her forward — and how I hope others will too.
With love,
CJ
